Great piece! When traditional careers aren't quite the option, doing something entrepreneurial and different becomes more of a necessity. Wonder if the divergence in entrepreneurial spirit b/w immigrants and natives will close up in due time though -- feels like being an entrepreneur is getting increasingly popular nowadays, isn't it?

Great question. That hadn't occurred to me. Tech has definitely lowered the barrier to entry for many types of ventures, which I'm sure has increased rates of entrepreneurism. I'm also guessing the gig economy may help new entrepreneurs supplement their incomes while their businesses are gaining toeholds. It's worth looking into it. Thanks for the thoughtful comment!

Very interesting article, Pablo! I think it makes complete sense that the risk-taking needed for picking up and starting life in a new country would correlate with the drive to start a business. Have you looked at all at stats related to immigration and entrepreneurship outside of the US? I would be interested to see how Spain stacks up!

One of the studies I referenced looked at the correlation between migrants worldwide and entrepreneurship, but I didn't see anything specific to Spain. I can take a look, though. Thanks for commenting, Kiki!
